Reading Activities 
There are lots of free online resources that you can access at home to support reading and find quality new texts.
 
Oxfordowl – a brilliant free ebook resource, supporting levelled reading for children. You will need an account which is quick to set up, and enables you to choose and read ebooks and access videos of stories being read too. Highly recommended.

Lovereading4kids – find book recommendations for specific age groups, blogs, kids zone with videos and activities based on books and competitions. With an account set up, you can download extracts of books too, which children really enjoy reading!

Reading Rainbow
These are the words that we aim for our Reception children to be able to read by the end of Reception.  The children should practise recognising the words so they know them instantly, NOT by sounding them out.
Concentrate on one colour of the rainbow at a time to make it more achievable for your child.  Too many words at once will confuse them.
