Classes at Thackley

When your child enters school and as they grow and mature, they will travel through many different phases and key stages. This is a normal part of your child’s education but sometimes it can be a little confusing. Below we have outlined the structure of our school and how the classes are organised.

Early Years
Children enter school during the Early Years, which is made up of Nursery and Reception. Our Nursery accommodates 78 children between the ages of 3 to 4 years and is made up of morning and afternoon sessions; 39 children attend in the morning and 39 in the afternoon. Children start full time education when they enter Reception which accommodates children between the ages of 4 to 5 years. Statutory School age for all children is 5 and therefore all children must be attending school by the term of their fifth birthday. The Early Years Foundation Stage is led by Mrs Horne.

Key Stage 1
Key Stage 1 is made up of children within the age range of 5 to 7 years. Year 1 accommodates children between the ages of 5 and 6. Year 2 accommodates children between the ages of 6 and 7. There are four classes in Key Stage 1 with each class being allocated a Teaching Assistant. The Key Stage is led by our Key Stage Leader Mrs Eversfield.

Key Stage 2
Key Stage 2 accommodates children from the ages of 7 to 11, in Years 3 to 6. This Key Stage is split into two sections known as Lower Key Stage 2 and Upper Key Stage 2. Miss Stanworth, our assistant Head Teacher is also our Lower Key Stage Two Leader and Mrs Cutting is our Upper Key Stage Two Leader.
