Statement of Progress on Implementing the Post OFSTED Action Plan Our last OFSTED Inspection was undertaken in April 2003.
We are justifiably proud of our excellent report, a copy of which is you can view by CLICKING HERE
We are pleased that progress is being made on the following key issues:
• raise standards in science
• improve the quality of pupils’ writing throughout the school
• raise the status of non-core subjects
• ensure greater consistency in the quality of marking so that pupils know exactly how to improve their work
We are pleased that these are issues we had already identified before the inspection.
We have already taken action and will continue to address them through our Post
Ofsted Action Plan and School Improvement Plan.
Staff Development
The majority of our staff development focuses around priorities in our School Improvement Plan. A big drive for this has been to raise standards in Literacy and Science. This has been reflected in the many staff development activities we have undertaken this year in Literacy, Science and Performance Management. We strive to provide a variety of activities e.g. courses off site, courses and training in school, visits to other classes and other schools, and using outside consultants to challenge our thinking.
Training in School has been provided for both Teaching and Support staff. Midday staff have benefited from training, as well as our Teaching Assistants, to develop their roles.
In July 2003 we were proud to be awarded Investors in People status. This award demonstrates our commitment to staff development and training.
