Whitby 2011
Here is a blog to keep you updated on how the children are getting on at Whitby! The children will be there from Monday 11th July to Friday 15th July.
We will keep updated through the webiste and through text messages! We hope you enjoy reading it!
Monday 11th July:
The hall was a hive of activity before the children left and it was clear that everyone was very excited about their trip to Whitby. The children have had an excellent day and enjoyed the bus journey up to Staithes (where they had their lunch). The children loved wandering round the old fishing village and then went onto Sneaton Castle - there 5 star residence for the week!
Upon arrival their unpacked, which was very interesting! For tea the children had sausage and mash and then enjoyed their first evening away. A great day all round! See you tomorrow!
Tuesday 12th July:
The real trip has begun. After a great nights sleep and some lovely breakfast the children embarked on a long walk along the beach. They walked down the beach and saw lots of different things- lets hope nobody put lots of rocks in their backpack and walked back with them!!
The children walked over 5 miles and had a great time playing beach games including a treasure hunt! They then stopped and had lunch and an ice cream and had the opportunity to spend some of their money! (Not too much though!) From here the children walked back just in time for tea.
The children had a great day and were having a play out in the grounds of Sneaton castle followed by a DVD. I think its safe to say the children will sleep well tonight! Over and out and we will see you tomorrow!
Wednesday 13th July:
After a good nights sleep the children woke up raring to go! The aches and pains of the walk were now over and the excitement of Day 3 began! The group split into 2 today with one group going to Whitby and the other going to Robin Hood's Bay.
Whitby:
The children took a walk into Whitby, did a town study, visited the Captain Cook museum, climbed 200 plus steps and visited the abbey. Oh and they also saw a pirates gravestone! After all that they went to visit Pannet Park museum where some of the best fossils in the world are kept. It was a fun packled day!
Robin Hoods Bay:
The children were dropped off by coach in the top car and wandered down into the town. After visiting the lifeboat museum, the children then spent an afternoon on the beach playing games and looking for crabs! They loved it and returned by to Sneaton Castle very happy!
It was a great day and although it was a little cloudier today, it didn't matter as the children had a great time. Tomorrow should be fun as the groups will switch over. See you tomorrow!
Thursday 14th July:
It was day 2 in the Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay adventure and what a fun day it was! The children had another wonderful day and when I heard from Miss Delaney they had just been on a surprise open top bus trip around Whitby! The children thought they were going on another walk but they were in for a treat! The children were singing and seeing Whitby from the top of a bus! There is no better way to finish off a brilliant trip!
