School Improvement

Thackley Primary School takes pride in delivering the best learning opportunities for our pupils in a warm, friendly, well resourced environment. We strive towards excellence in all we do and embrace change where needed to enhance the experiences for our children.  A clear journey of focused school Improvement is integral  to our practice; this ensures we are up to date with new strategies and initiatives in order to meet our children's needs.

The school was last inspected in January 2009. The school was graded as "Good with some outstanding features." Ofsted highlighted three key issues for the school to address.

These are:

  • Raise standards in writing.
  • Ensure consistency in the quality of teaching.
  • Ensure the planning for groups /activities identifies the knowledge and skills pupils will acquire.

An annual School Improvement plan is produced which outlines focused and background priorities.  Priorities are decided in reponse to Ofsted, the needs of the school and from other external agencies. The prorities for 2011/2012 are listed below:

  • To develop Reading throughout school
  • To develop Maths throughout school
  • To implement high standards of behaviour in school
